OPHTHALMOLOGY

Our Ophthalmology services provide a quality eye service closer to patient’s home with an easy access to the community’s eye clinics. This service provides full consultation by a consultant or a consultant supported trained clinician with an investigation and treatment on the same day. An onward referral to secondary, tertiary and low vision services on the same day is initiated as well and a follow up and/or discharge to primary care.

 

 

 

A general adult eye clinic for patients aged 18 years or older will be provided for the following eye conditions:

  • Symptomatic and or troublesome

  • Pingueculae and pterygia

  • Blepharitis

  • Periorbital cysts

  • Concretions

  • Chalazion

  • Conjunctivitis (not responding to Rx)

  • Posterior Vitreous Detachment –

  • flashes and floaters

  • Dry eyes

  • Iritis

  • In growing Eyelashes – epilation

  • Undiagnosed red eye

  • Epiphoria / Watery Eyes

  • Conjunctival cysts

  • Contact lens related problems

  • Non active retinal abnormalities

We exclude Patients under the age of 18, patients not registered with GP surgery in a specific CCG, Patients requiring emergency care e.g. retinal, detachments, trauma, WET AMD etc, Acute eye conditions e.g. red /painful eye/ and patients with a sudden loss of vision.
